Qld: Mum saves son bitten by snake
An Ipswich parent's quick thinking helped save their eight-year-old son, bitten by
a brown snake today at Karalee, in south east Queensland.
MATTHEW THOMPSON was bitten on his left heel by a brown snake on the driveway of the
family's Karalee home, about 50km west of Brisbane.
MATTHEW'S mother LORRAINE says immediately after he was bitten they sat him down and
rang the ambulance who talked them through what to do.
MATTHEW is the second person to be bitten in the Ipswich area by a brown snake since
yesterday, while a Sunshine Coast woman was killed by a rough-scale snake last week.
The spate of snakebites have prompted authorities to issue a warning to people about
the dangers of snakes during summer.
