Fed: Luhrmann elated and disappointed
Moulin Rouge director BAZ LUHRMANN has found himself torn between elation and heartbreakafter missing out on a best director Oscar nomination.
But the visionary film maker's Australian made musical was nominated for eight AcademyAwards including best picture.
From an apartment in Florida where Luhrmann is staying, he put on a brave face.
He says he's disappointed not to have been nominated for best director but is delightedat the film's overall success.
LUHRMANN says he is especially proud of the best actress nomination for NICOLE KIDMANwho he says has been a guiding light.
The best director nominations went to RON HOWARD for A Beautiful Mind, ROBERT ALTMANfor Gosford Park, DAVID LYNCH for Mulholland Drive, RIDLEY SCOTT for Black Hawk Down andPETER JACKSON for The Lord of the Rings.
