NT: Stolen Namatjira can't be sold - owner

The owner of a stolen ALBERT NAMATJIRA original worth an estimated $250,000 says thethief won't be able to sell the painting.

The watercolour called Twin Gums was snatched from the wall of the Panorama Guth galleryin Alice Springs on Sunday.

The painting, measuring almost one metre by one metre, is one of the largest createdby Australia's first internationally famous indigenous painter.

Police have released a likeness of a man aged in his mid-20s who was seen in the galleryabout the time of the disappearance.

The gallery's owner, 81-year-old HANK GUTH, says the thief's not going to be able tosell the painting because everyone is hunting to get it back.
