Fed: Demography, destiny and the big political guns

CANBERRA, Feb 25 AAP - The government fired its first big salvo of the election year today.
Its changes to retirement income rules, set firmly against the huge policy challenges
of an ageing population, is a first-order issue.
Unlike the skirmishes over politicians' superannuation, Iraq's terror weapons or reading
to kids, this affects everyone.
It also enables the government to move economic management, one of its strengths over
Labor, back to centre stage.
