PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 18, 1999--
Hewlett-Packard Company today announced a series of extremely cost-competitive AlInGaP (aluminum indium gallium arsenide) red and amber 5mm LED lamps that provide up to 6 candela intensity (at 8-degree viewing angle), costing only $0.14 in one to 9,999-piece quantities. This compares with HP's previously lowest-cost AlInGaP lamps, which were priced at $0.29 for the same quantities. Pricing in quantities from 50,000 to 499,999 is $0.12.
These lamps are designed specifically for applications requiring a high on-axis light intensity and operate over a wide range of drive-current levels. They represent an economical and reliable choice for a huge variety of commercial and consumer applications ranging from bicycle warning lamps to automotive and other decorative lighting, illuminated signs, moving message panels and road-construction barrier lights.
These HP lamps are cost competitive and are specified for operation in -40 degree C to +100 degree C temperature range. They offer higher reliability than most conventional TS AlGaAs (transparent substrate aluminum gallium arsenide) lamps often used in cost-constrained applications.
