Fed:Ai Group says Govt's workplace amendments workable

The Australian Industry Group says employers would have preferred to have kept individual
work contracts .. but the federal government's workplace relations amendments are workable.

The federal government's introduced legislation to parliament that begins the roll-back
of the former coalition's controversial Work Choices laws.

Ai Group Chief Executive HEATHER RIDOUT says the workplace relations amendments appear
to be balanced and workable .. and have been shaped by a very constructive consultation
process.

The bill enables all existing AWAs to continue for their full term .. up to five years.

And employers who've been using AWAs will be able to enter into statutory individual
employment agreements .. to be called Individual Transitional Employment Agreements for
the next two years.
