Fed: Researchers and patients demand cloning conscience vote

A medical research group is calling for a conscience vote on therapeutic cloning.

The Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research Australia .. says the future
could be bleak for people with motor neurone disease .. Parkinson's .. diabetes and spinal
injuries .. unless the federal government allows therapeutic cloning.

The government's reviewing its stem cell research laws .. following a review recommending
therapeutic cloning go ahead .. with strict scientific and ethical regulations.

But TONY ABBOTT says cloning's an an ethical barrier Australia should not cross.
